Youth health care

The Youth Health Care Department is intended for children, teenagers and their parents
The Youth Health Care Department (Jeugdgezondheidszorg, JGZ) of the municipality of Utrecht is intended for all children, teenagers and their parents. They can turn to the JGZ with any questions about growth, developments and parenting, ranging from a baby’s first bites to questions about bullying and sexuality. Paediatricians, paediatric nurses and assistants, together with the parents, follow the child’s development from its conception until the age of 18. By seeing and examining a child regularly, professionals are able to identify a child’s health status at an early stage. They discuss the child’s health situation with the parents and what the parents can do to ensure the child remains healthy.
