Almost one third of Utrecht residents aged between 19 and 64 have little contact with their neighbours, i.e. less than twice per month. This has nothing to do with gender or level of education.

19% of Utrecht residents who only have primary education indicate they have little contact with friends as opposed to 6% of highly educated adults.

Almost all Utrecht residents between the age of 19 and 39 have regular contact with family, relatives and friends. Utrecht residents in this age category have little contact with their neighbours; 40% indicate they have little contact with their neighbours.
28% of young adults have contact with their neighbours every week
Almost three in ten Utrecht residents aged between 18 and 25 have contact with neighbours at least once per week. 84% have contact with family and relatives every week. Among young adult women, this is 90%; among young adult men, this is 76%.

Residents in Overvecht, Zuidwest and Binnenstad have contact with their neighbours less often. Residents in Leidsche Rijn and Vleuten–De Meern more often have contact with their neighbours than the Utrecht average.
