Most of the imminent evictions in Overvecht
Most imminent evictions in Utrecht occur in Overvecht. In 2012, six in 1,000 households were affected. In the case of imminent eviction, the tenancy agreement is dissolved by the cantonal court and the housing corporation is authorised to proceed to eviction. In many cases, the residents pay at the last moment or agree on a payment arrangement, preventing eviction (Municipality of Utrecht, 2012).

Many health issues among tenants facing imminent eviction

Between 80 and 100 reports of home hygiene issues
In 2012, the municipality of Utrecht received 89 reports of dirty homes. In 90% of cases, action had to be taken. These cases involved people whose home and/or who themselves had become severely dirty and consequently posed a danger to themselves and/or their environment. These residents often had problems in multiple fields of life. In 2012, 28% of clients with home hygiene issues were receiving second-line or third-line psychiatric treatment or addiction treatment.

Most applications for neighbourhood mediation were made in Noordwest and Overvecht. The Utrecht average is 1.2 applications per 1,000 households. Neighbourhood mediation is used for helping people solve conflicts and quarrels with neighbours. Most reports of residential nuisance in Zuidwest and Zuid
In 2012, the municipality of Utrecht received 223 new reports of residential nuisance, compared to 327 in 2011, showing a decrease. The activities of the Overvecht and Ondiep community teams may have contributed to causing this trend. Most new reports of residential nuisance came from Zuidwest.

People causing residential nuisance often face a cluster of underlying problems
The majority of people who cause residential nuisance often face problems in multiple fields of life. 51% are addicted to alcohol and one in three has psychiatric problems.
