Utrecht residents from Leidsche Rijn and Vleuten-De Meern are positive about green areas
Adults (aged 19 to 64) living in Leidsche Rijn and Vleuten-De Meern are most positive about the green areas in their neighbourhood. This is based on eight statements about green areas in the neighbourhood. Residents from Noordwest (Ondiep in particular) and Zuidwest are least positive about green areas in their neighbourhood.

Residents living in disadvantaged areas believe green areas are less safe
Utrecht residents in the Ondiep, Zuilen-Oost, Overvecht or Kanaleneiland areas less often say that the green areas in their neighbourhood are safe. An average of seven in ten Utrecht residents believe green areas are safe.

Residents older than 55 have more appreciation for green areas in their neighbourhood
Adults aged 55 to 64 are more often positive about the green areas in their neighbourhood than Utrecht residents below the age of 55 are. More than one quarter of 55- to 64-year-olds visit the green areas in their neighbourhood (almost) every day. Most Utrecht residents visit the green areas in their neighbourhood several times a week or month. Adults visit parks in Utrecht and nature and recreation areas in and around Utrecht several times a year.

Percentages of 19- to 64-year-olds who visit green areas:

45% of Utrecht adults visits green spaces in their neighbourhood weekly; 12% visits parks in the neighbourhood weekly, and 10% visits nature and recreational areas in and around the city weekly.

Utrecht residents with a low level of education visit the green areas in their neighbourhood more often
Three out of ten Utrecht residents with a low level of education indicate they visit the green areas in their neighbourhood (almost) every day. Among highly educated Utrecht residents, this is 16%. Highly educated Utrecht residents more often indicate they visit the green areas in their neighbourhood several times a week or month. Utrecht parks and the nature and recreation areas in and around Utrecht are visited less often by Utrecht residents with a low level of education.

One third of Utrecht residents with a Moroccan or Turkish background do not recreate in nature
36% of Utrecht residents with a Turkish background and 32% with a Moroccan background never visit a nature or recreation area in or around Utrecht. They visit the green areas in their neighbourhood as often as the average Utrecht resident does.
