The household composition is the classification of a family or household on the basis of the mutual relations between the members of the household. The household composition has an impact on health. Living an unhealthy life is found relatively more often among singles, and their self-perceived health status is poorer. Utrecht studies show for instance that an accumulation of health problems and risks occurs more often among single-person households and single-parent families.
