The complexity of health
Health is the result of a complex combination of various health determinants, such as genetic predisposition, social participation, lifestyle, health care, and environment. Residents with a poor to mediocre self-perceived health more often have to deal with risks in multiple fields: an accumulation of problems and risk factors.
In Noordwest, Overvecht and Zuidwest, accumulated risks occur more often. Four risk factors, by district:
Relatively many Utrecht residents with a low level of education and/or a migration background live in Noordwest, Overvecht and Zuidwest. In these districts, there is also a higher occurrence of an accumulation of problems and risks among the residents. In Binnenstad, a relatively high percentage of children (as opposed to adults) have to deal with such accumulation. In Zuidwest, there are relatively many adults with an accumulation of risks. Among children, the occurrence of accumulation is not above the average.
